5 Mar 2008 - World Maths Day
The whole school was immersed in mathematical activities today. Instead of the children working in their classes, they spent the day with their teams and had a go at each of the activities set in each class.
In Badgers class there was sewing, using number grids to create interesting patterns. In Owls class the children were inventing their own board games based on Snakes and Ladders. The laptops were also set up so that the children could participate in the biggest maths quiz ever! Schools and children from all over the world were able to challenge each other. The Elmsett children found it very exctiting that they were up against children from all over the world including Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, USA and of of course Great Britain.
In Otters class there was 3-D shape making and in the hall board games were being played.
There were even activities in the playground! Firstly, how many basketball hoops could be shot. Well done to Olivia who got the most points on this activity. Secondly, scoring on the goal.
It was an amazing day and thoroughly enjoyed by all.
